Like humans, dogs experience stress and anxiety during periods of transition or when injured. Life events such as changes in family status, relocations, the addition of new pets, aging, and lack of exercise or overexertion, often affect our pet’s health and behavior. Massage differs from petting. It is directed, intentional manipulation of the muscles and joints. Using the same massage principals for people, we apply slight variations and modifications for the four-legged species. We massage canines using the basic strokes of Swedish Massage, along with stretching techniques, range of motion assessment and gait analysis.
